| Remarks | [large blue label] There is a peculiarity in the ligule of this palm and the same is true of the Guano Cana. One side of the ligule extends downwards lower than the other generally if not always. In the same plant the longer side is on the same side of every leaf, it may be the right side. On aneighboring plant it may be on the left side but on the sme side of every leaf The flabelliforus palms bear as the generic name of Guano or sometimes the diminuative Guanito. On the contrary the pinnatifrond are called palma thus Palma real (Oreodoxa) Palma maca (Geonoma) Palma oriolla (Oreodoxa) Palma barrigona &c. Guano cana Guano Japa Guano prieto Guana blanco Some bear special names Coco macada (Bactris) Corojo (Acronemia) Yavey &c. In some cases the specific name appears as a prefix as Yaraguana Miraguana &c. |
