Remarks"Gray's description of Mortonia scabrella was based on collections made by Wright from at least two localitoes, each given the same collection number (927). Sheets collected from near the San Pedro River in 1851 are selected as lectotype material. The Lectotype is at GH. Known isolectotypes are at MICH, MO, and US. Other specimens bearing Wright 927 but collected in 1852 are believed to be from the mountains near El Paso, Texas. See Todson (MadroƱo 23: 403. 1976) for more discussion of Wright's "El Paso" collections." Prigge & Henrickson, 2016
