| Substrate | on stones, on Ruppia maritima, and on muddy bottom in creek |
| Project | Macroalgae TCN |
| Remarks | The prostrate filaments are well developed when the plant grows on mud, less so when on stones or Ruppia. It has been abundant at this station for several years, from July to November, but no fruit of any kind has yet been found. Though slender and apparently delicate, it endures without injury exposure at low tide for several hours to the full heat of the sun, becoming quite dry and brittle; also exposure to heavy rain for the same length of time; in both cases resuming its normal condition with the return of the tide. |
