RemarksThis is the dominant plant throughout the pond, and was treated with herbicides in 2006 & 2008 with no long term reduction in the population. Field Pond was man-made by damming a tributary of the Skug River in 1934 by the CCC. It is shallow with low flow through, and residences on the south side contributing nutrients. This species, like fanwort, extended its range from New York starting in 1930's, probably assisted anthropogenically. Associates: Cabomba caroliniana, Callitriche sp., Nuphar variegata, Nymphaea odorata
