RemarksTransplanted there by W. Brewster. Presumably set out in Concord River, 1/4 mile below Flint Bridge, Concord, Mass. In about 1893 it covered ten feet or more across. In 1893 William Brewster took up a few root stock and set them out in a swampy spot on his Concord estate between Ball's and Davis Hills, where they flowered and fruited regularly. In 1911 he took up a couple of root stocks from the latter place and set them out on the margin of Concord River by his cabin. Both plants flowered in 1912 and the two flowering stalks are on this sheet. The original locality was destroyed soon after W. Brewster took some root stocks from the place. This information was given me today by [E. F.] Williams. [Walter Deane annotation on sheet]
