| Remarks | Contrary to Keck's understanding, Lindley's herbarium is at CGE (not BM), where there are two specimens labelled Potentilla glandulosa ß incisa B.R. 1973. While one is Horkelia californica var. frondosa (the same as this sheet), the other is in fact Potentilla glandulosa s.l. (= Drymocallis glabrata) and a good match for the published illustration. The latter is the obvous lectotype, not the specimen referred to by Keck. B. J. Ertter, 2013 |

| Description | only seven words long and I suspect the artist may have been instructed to draw up the flowers from some previous plates lacking proper flowers at the time. However it was, the specimen Lindley preserved for his new variety prove to be Horkelia frondosa. |
