Remarks["Aug. 16. . . by side of tan-yard, the apparently true Mentha virids, or spearmint, growing very rankly in a dense bed, some four feet high, spikes rather dense, one to one and a half inches long, stem often reddish, leaves nearly sessile." Journal 9: 4. 1856]
