Hall (1928) seems to have followed the tradition of attributing to GH Gray's type when he recorded as the [holo]type the specimen of Haplopappus stenophyllus deposited in GH. (There are duplicates of the type of H. stenophyllus at and US, which Hall almost certainly also saw.)[see label text in determination field for part 2] |

| Annotation Text | I have also followed this tradition in annotating the GH specimen as the holotype, even though I find no indication in Gray (1874) as to which specimen the author intended as the type. I suppose it could be argued that Hall's subsequent selection is really an inadvertant lectotypification of the specimen at GH. + the second dupl. is at K, Hall may not have seen this. ---Caleb. A.
