Remarks"The morphology of this plant suggests strongly that it came from Modoc County, California (southwest of Goose Lake), an area Nuttall never visited. I suggest the possibility that he acquired the specimen from someone who had been there -- perhaps Joseph Burke, who traversed the appropriate terrain in 1846 (probably late August)." det. J.
