Determination Pyxine glebosa Tuckerman
Determined byF. Bungartz (CDRS)
Date Determined2009-09-**
Annotation Textthe specimen is NOT identical to Pyxine endoleuca (=P. petricola) as suggested by W. A. Weber's annotation 1964. W. A. Weber (1968) Mycotaxon 27: 461-462 suggests that Pyxine glebosa Tuck. is identical to Buellia straminea Tuck. This contradicts his own 1964 annotation, and is clearly incorrect! Tuckerman already suggested that this specimen is distinctly different from Pyxine 'frostii' because of the swollen, bullate areols; probably a good species but no recent records.
