He wrote 'Deutsch-Neuguinea' (1901). Eponymy (zoology): Malurus alboscapulatus subsp. tappenbecki Reichenow (1897); Colluricincla megarhyncha subsp. tappenbecki Reichenow (1899)" (vide Michael Watkins)
