Item Remarks[extra label] "Michigan State Coll[ection]" Probably from 1837. This sp. is not listed in the published Catalogue for 1838. However, the sp. has long been known from Mackinac. Island, where it might have been collected in 1839 or 1840. A possible dupl. in MICH was attributed in ca. 1870 to "Dr. A. Sager" but no loc. is given.-- E. G. Voss Dec. 27, 1994; Botanical and Zoological field work in 1837 was under the immediate direction of Dr. Abram Sager (Mich. House Doc. 1838: 308).
